History of Mill River Park
Also known as the Central Park of Stamford, Mill River Park has been a project in the works for nearly 100 years. However, it wasn’t until 1997 that the plan for the 31-acre park was put into action. With the removal of the historic Mill River Dam in 2000, the natural wetland was restored and the anadromous fish returned to their natural habitat in the river. In 2007, a top landscaping firm was hired to design and bring the park to life. Today, the finished product includes many of the latest advances in bioengineering and beautiful plantings on a remarkable landscape.
