The Lounge: A New Greenwich Bar With A Story (& A Strong Pour)

Not Just a Bed and Breakfast Bar: A Neighborhood Favorite in the Making

You won’t spot the newest Greenwich bar right away. It’s tucked behind a door that once led to the innkeeper’s office—and before that, the landlord’s living room. But step through, and you’ll find The Lounge: our hidden-in-plain-sight gem at the Seaman-Brush House.

Part speakeasy, part neighborhood hideaway, this quiet little corner brings a fresh spirit (and spirits) to the inn bar scene.

We built The Lounge with more than just travelers in mind. This space is a love letter to the classic inn bar: intimate, welcoming, and easy to settle into. We borrowed inspiration from a cozy Charleston joint we love, and added our own Greenwich flair.

It’s the kind of place where you can grab a pre-dinner cocktail, wind down with a nightcap, or stay too long in a good conversation. Locals wander in. Guests come back. No reservations, no expectations—just a genuinely good time.

Design That Winks at Clue, Minus the Murder

If you’ve spent time at Stanton House Inn, you already know: it’s got a bit of that Clue vibe. So we leaned into the mystery and charm when naming The Lounge. (We were running out of rooms on the board anyway.)

Just off the front desk, behind what looks like a regular door, you’ll find:

  • A showstopping tiger maple bar, salvaged from a nearby English-style cottage
  • Velvet drapes framing tall windows and one very old copper beech
  • Leather chairs, antique art, and a quiet British flair—more Sherlock, and not stuffy
  • One of our iconic fireplaces, now fitted with a cozy stove for cold nights

A Bit More Moody, A Lot More Inviting

While our Library and Living Room still carry the classic bed and breakfast bar charm, The Lounge has a softer, moodier vibe. It’s made for:

  • Sipping something strong before dinner
  • Hosting small gatherings or private tastings
  • Curling up by the fire on a rainy afternoon
  • Enjoying the architecture, one detail at a time

Now Serving Lunch, Drinks & Cozy Vibes

Not feeling the walk over to Greenwich Avenue for a drink, or dinner? Then stay comfy right here at Stanton House Inn. Our speakeasy lounge is now serving up fresh-made lunches and chilled drinks. And mere steps from your room.

Craving something tasty? Try:

  • The pesto caprese sandwich (chicken optional)
  • A sizzling quesadilla
  • Or one of our loaded black bean, salmon, or beef burgers

Got a sweet tooth?

We’ve got brownies and ice cream with your name on it.

Kick back with a glass of wine and a good book by the library fireplace. Or, grab lunch to-go for a beach day at Tod’s Point. Better yet, let us bring it straight to your door.

However you unwind, we’ll make it delicious.

Your New Favorite Greenwich Bar (If You Know Where to Look)

The Lounge is open to guests and, on select nights, to our neighbors too. It might look like just another hallway door—but behind it is one of the best-kept secrets in Greenwich.

This is our take on what an inn bar should be: personal, comfortable, and full of good stories.

🗝️ You’re in on the secret now. Come by and stay awhile.
