Former Parents’ Bedroom with Private Entrance: Room 16
This was my parents’ room. Growing up, it felt like the most serious room in the house. It was also the one where the adults wound-down and enjoyed a good night sleep.
And it still is.
Room 16 is on the first floor. Back of the house. Queen bed, private entrance, its own door to the outside. The recent refresh focused on one thing: sleep. Better window treatments. A wool rug over the old floors. The kind of changes you notice at 11pm, not from across the room.
This room is for you if you want quiet, not performance.

Room 16: What You Need to Know
Room 16 began as the parents’ bedroom when this was still a private family home. It sits on the ground floor, toward the back. It’s away from the street, away from the busier rooms upstairs. It’s always been the composed one. The serious one.
The queen bed sits under two west-facing windows. No morning sun. Draw the curtains and the room stays dark well past when the rest of the house wakes up. Dark wood nightstands, ceramic lamps, linen curtains that pull fully closed at night. A wool rug runs under the bed and softens the old hardwood floors in a way you feel more than see.
Across the room: a rattan lounge chair with a cushioned seat and a floor lamp beside it. The kind of thing someone put together over time, not ordered all at once. Next to the bed: a small antique writing desk with a brass task lamp tucked into the corner.
It’s a real desk. Not a shelf with a chair pushed under it.
The room is compact. It’s also where people actually sleep.
