WHO WE ARE
Stanton House Inn is a 21-room historic bed and breakfast in Greenwich, CT — 45 minutes from Grand Central by train. We’ve been welcoming guests for decades. The house is genuinely old and genuinely beautiful. Our guests come here to slow down, and our team makes that possible.
We’re open and affirming, and all about being welcoming. We hire for warmth, self-direction, and staying power. Hospitality backgrounds are nice but not required.
HOW WE WORK
A lot of hospitality jobs are built on the assumption that good service means someone is always available, always on, always accommodating. We’ve learned the hard way that doesn’t work — for guests or for the people doing the work.
So we’ve built the inn differently.
We design systems that handle the predictable stuff — digital locks, extra towels in every room, an answering service for after-hours calls, documented check-in processes — so the team can focus on the part that actually matters: making guests feel genuinely at home.
When something goes wrong (and in hospitality, something always does), we fix it, and then we fix the system so it’s less likely to happen again. We don’t ask who messed up. We ask what in the system set us up for failure.
This isn’t a 24-hour front desk. The inn closes every winter for several weeks, and the whole team takes paid time off together. We close — and the team goes home — because you cannot build something lasting on burnout.
WHAT WE VALUE
First, our core values:
- Leave your world better than you found it
- Well done is better than well said
- Be humble, be hungry
- Hustle, but never rush
- Get 1% better every day
- Treat others with respect, compassion, and positivity; and expect the same
These aren’t aspirational posters. They’re how we actually operate, as are these:
- Calm is the product. Guests come here to slow down. We don’t manufacture energy or drama
- Heroics look impressive; systems last longer. If something keeps breaking, we fix the process, not the person
WHY PEOPLE LIKE WORKING HERE

- Daytime shifts only: no all-night front desk, no rotating overnight coverage
- A structure that supports you, rather than depending on you to hold everything together
- Real guests, not “heads in beds”: people who chose a small historic inn on purpose
- A small team where your work is visible and your judgment is trusted
- 401k with employer match, shared tips, and on-call bonus opportunity; formal development supported, including Cornell’s Hospitality Management Certificate and the Grow to Greatness framework
