Spring Events in Greenwich CT

outdoor concertSpring is a beautiful time to experience Greenwich, but spring in Connecticut is also an excellent time to rub elbows with locals.

So soon after being locked away for much of the winter, everyone’s ready to get out there and mingle.

Some of the events in Greenwich CT that happen in the spring include:

Focus on French Cinema

For the past 17 years, the Alliance Française’s French Film Festival has shown a selection of recent French and French-language films. Many are U.S. premieres and award-winning films. It’s one of the best French film festivals in the country.

All films have English subtitles and are shown in high-quality theaters both in Greenwich and New York City.

Greenwich Restaurant Week

Greenwich Restaurant Week is a week-long event that celebrates the amazing food and drink scene in Greenwich, Connecticut. It’s an opportunity for local restaurants to showcase their culinary skills and for foodies to sample some of the best food in the area. During the week, participating restaurants offer special menus and deals that are specifically tailored to the event.

Art to the Avenue

The Greenwich Arts Council has been mixing art and commerce for the past 26 years. With the enthusiastic support of the local business community, the Arts Council transforms Greenwich Avenue into a strolling gallery each May. Most stores host receptions for the hundreds of people who come to see the work of regional artists. Visitors have plenty of time to enjoy the “gallery” into which downtown Greenwich transforms. The artwork, chosen by the retailers, is on display until Memorial Day weekend.

Greenwich Town Party

This is one of those Greenwich town events that everyone looks forward to, though tickets can get expensive.

Bruce Museum Outdoor Spring Crafts Festival

One of two major Bruce Museum events worth attending if you’re in town, or coming to town specifically for it. It’s one of the top spring festivals in CT to look forward to each year.

Summer Events in Greenwich, Connecticut

summer night lightsUnlike other parts of the country, Greenwich and Connecticut in general never get too hot in the summer.

Aside from some variable years, summer in Connecticut remains relatively comfortable.

And even when it’s very hot, there are always Greenwich beaches, the pool, or air conditioning if you’re not in the mood to go out. Some great summer events in Greenwich CT include:

5. Greenwich International Film Festival

6. Caramoor Summer Music Festival

While Caramoor is not in Greenwich, it’s a short drive from us over the border in Katonah, New York, one of the beautiful towns near Greenwich, CT. Caramoor is a treasure to have so close by, and is worth a visit any time of year for their constantly changing events and concerts.

7. Fourth of July Fireworks at Greenwich Point Park

The Fourth of July Fireworks at Greenwich Point Park is a yearly celebration of America’s independence. It’s an opportunity to come together with friends and family and celebrate the Fourth of July in style. With its stunning views of Long Island Sound and incredible fireworks display, Tod’s Point is the perfect place to spend this special day. If you can’t make it to the peninsula, you can catch a separate show at the same time at Binney Park.

As far as things to do anywhere in CT in July goes, Greenwich’s fireworks display is spectacular. Though we may be biased.

8. Greenwich Sidewalk Sales

Another major attraction of the summer festivals in CT is the opportunity to snag a deal or two at one of the premier shopping destinations in the Northeast. Greenwich Avenue shops roll their wares out onto the street for a week, attracting shoppers from all over.

9. Shakespeare on the Sound

One of the most unique things to do in Connecticut is to enjoy an evening picnic and a rousing performance of a Shakespeare play by Long Island Sound.

This annual tradition is worth getting early to stake your claim on a great spot.
