1. Coffee for Good
Tucked just off Maple Avenue (and right next door to us at Stanton House Inn), Coffee for Good has a wonderful mission. It’s a nonprofit that gives job experience to adults with intellectual disabilities and special needs. And while that’s reason enough to visit, a few more perks include:
- Atmosphere: A historic 1858 house with high ceilings and comfy chairs
- Food: Lattes, quiches, soups, salads, and gluten‑free pastries made from scratch
- Vibe: Industrial meets historic, my kind of place. And it’s quite popular with locals, too.
2. Dogwood Books and Gifts
This spot is a café meets hidden gem bookstore. You sip, you browse, and a story will write itself right there in your head.
- Books, gifts, and chill: New releases, spiritual picks, bestsellers. And all alongside tabletop décor and cute cards
- Cozy upstairs nook: Sunny reading spots overlooking the church grounds and stone Anglican church. It’s a perfect for daydreamers, writers, or admirers of places that feel pulled from the UK.
- Vibe: Dogwood Books and Gifts is the quietest of the coffee shops, perfect for getting some deep-focus work done (spoken from experience)
3. CFCF Coffee
This spot on Greenwich Avenue is a mainstay, and its outdoor seating right on the Ave is perfect for people-watching. That said, as the location implies, I wouldn’t call CFCF a hidden gem. Definitely still worth checking-out though:
- Coffee: Coffee roasters fresh‑roast their delicious coffee daily
- Menu: Croissants, muffins, scones, and gourmet sandwiches
- Vibe: Cozy, casual, and laptop‑friendly. It does sometimes get busy with remote workers, though
4. Sweet Pea’s Cafe (Old Greenwich)
Sweet Pea’s is ideal for your workday needs or your “catch up with a friend” chat in Old Greenwich.
- Famous for: Specialty coffee, baked‑to‑perfection treats, friendly faces
- Outdoor seating: Sunlit patio that says, “Stay a while”
- Bonus: No chain feel here. Just quirky touches and real conversations
5. Joe Studio Cafe
Art and coffee get together and create magic here at Joe Studio. It’s bright, creative, and hums with quiet energy. This coffee shop is perfect for sketching or laptop lounging.
