A Brief History of Ledyard, CT
Local farmers Thomas Bayley, John Gager, Robert Allyn, and Robert Stoddard settled in the mid-seventeenth century. Their farms were in the western section of town on the east bank of the Thames River. The river served as their mode of transportation.
