Does anyone remember the recent movie, Stepford Wives? It recently popped-up on my Netflix list, but I have yet to watch it. The only aspect of this movie that I remember (besides the plot about women getting lobotomies or something to be more subservient to their husbands) is that most of it was shot in New Canaan, Connecticut. New Canaan was chosen as the quintessentially Connecticut town with a pretty downtown as well as roads of big, beautiful mansions.
And New Canaan still does not disappoint (in terms of beauty, I’m sure they’re not all that misogynistic up there). Located just on the opposite side of Stamford, New Canaan is a much smaller–in population–version (and some would say reminiscent of Greenwich before it became such a popular place to live) of Greenwich. It’s well-worth a visit for someone visiting the Greenwich area for more than a few days.
And coming-up at the beginning of October is a great opportunity to do so!
The New Canaan Nature Center is hosting its annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 4th from 7 pm to 10 pm. As the timing would imply, this is a more adult festival, where beer and wine from local Connecticut breweries and wineries will flow freely, and all to support the New Canaan Nature Center!
Man, I love beer.

While the booze is a big draw, the event will also feature delicious bites from local chefs as well as live music. Tickets can be bought at the New Canaan Nature Center’s page, and are $65 a pop which covers everything at the event.
Some of the breweries that participated last year included Half Full Brewery of Stamford and Charter Oak brewery, a new brewery in Connecticut with some pretty delicious brews!
So get in on the action while the nights are still pleasant!
