Santa Claus and his reindeer are coming to town! The Greenwich Reindeer Festival brings Christmas cheer to Greenwich, Connecticut, each winter and is the perfect way to celebrate the holidays with the family. Guests can enjoy a whole slew of activities including horse-drawn carriage rides, live musical entertainment, professional ice sculpture demos, and much more. You can even visit with live reindeer and get your photo taken with Santa!
If you’re looking for something new to do this Christmas, book your stay at the Stanton House Inn and start planning your trip to the Greenwich Reindeer Festival. This year’s event will be held from November 25 to December 24, 2016. Here are some of the things you’ll find there.
Your Guide to the 2016 Greenwich Reindeer Festival
Photos with Santa
The festival kicks off with an exciting ribbon cutting ceremony at McArdle’s Florist & Garden Center. Pictures with Santa begin immediately after the ceremony and include holiday refreshments, face painting, and balloon animals. Packages start at $29.99, and photo times are Monday through Friday from 12 to 6 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Christmas Eve from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Events and Activities
Need to get some of your holiday shopping done? There will be over 100 merchants offering holiday promotions and refreshments at the Greenwich Reindeer Festival. You can view a live nativity scene, check out the horse petting station, or grab lunch at the Food Truck Village on Greenwich Avenue. The festival also offers holiday art workshops and letter writing to Santa.
Meet the Reindeer
The best part about the Greenwich Reindeer Festival is, of course, the reindeer! Children can feed the animals at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day and experience a magical moment they’ll remember forever. Afterward, head to McArdle’s for the annual Pepsi “Name the Reindeer Contest” where the kids can enter their favorite reindeer names in a ballot box. Santa will draw the winning names December 14th.
Check Out the Greenwich Holiday Stroll
For even more holiday fun, head to the annual Greenwich Holiday Stroll on December 3 – 4, 2016! Guests can stroll downtown Greenwich and enjoy shopping, dining, and more during the first weekend of December. As an added bonus, the event helps children in need during the holidays by donating a percentage of their profits to Kids in Crisis. This free, round-the-clock agency provides children with emergency shelter, crisis counseling, and educational programs in the community. It’s a win-win!
