History of the Greenwich International Film Festival
The idea for the film festival was first envisioned by Wendy Stapleton Reyes, Carina Crain, and Colleen deVeer, three Greenwich locals who were heavily involved in the area’s non-profit industry. They began to plan the festival in early 2013, and the first official event was an Oscar-viewing launch party in March 2014. On October 22, 2014, GIFF hosted a screening of The Good Lie in collaboration with UNICEF, and today, the festival is held annually in June and hosts year-round screenings of socially-conscious films.
