Connecticut during the fall is easy to fall for—ba dum tss. But seriously, during the autumn months, there’s something so seemingly nostalgic about the changing leaves. The crisp breeze and all the yummy food and drinks of the season make it unforgettable.

Calling all Jane Austen lovers! Hartford is putting on Pride and Prejudice, directed by Tatyana-Marie Carlo. Become entranced by the story of the Bennet sisters and their quest for marriage. The independent and outspoken Elizabeth Bennet may not be keen on the idea of marriage, but the proud and mysterious Mr. Darcy may make her change her mind. The play runs for approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, including one intermission. 

 

New Haven Fall Restaurant Week

Nov 5-10, 2023

Calling all foodies—or at least those who enjoy a good meal! New Haven Restaurant Week is a biannual dining celebration throughout Elm City that invites diners to sample the incredible array of eateries that comprise the city’s culinary scene. 

 

The program offers special deals at participating restaurants in New Haven, CT, including prix-fixe menu items with two-course lunch options for $25 and three-course dinner options starting at $35. This next New Haven Restaurant Week will feature 25 restaurants across 8 neighborhoods, so there are plenty of spots you can check out. An Evening With: Aaron Tveit

The incredible Aaron Tveit is a Tony-winning, American theatre, television, and film actor. He earned a Tony Award and an Outer Critics Circle honor for his performance in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Baz Luhrmann’s critically acclaimed film. You may also know him from the Emmy Award winning television musical, Grease: Live, Apple TV+’s Schmigadoon. Some other notable shows include Gossip Girl, The Good Wife, The Good Fight, and more. A notable film he also was part of was none other than Les Misérables. On Broadway, Tveit starred in Catch Me If You Can. Tveit also created the role of Gabe in the Pulitzer Prize winning musical, Next To Normal. You may have also caught him in WICKED and HAIRSPRAY. Safe to say, he’s a busy man.

Get your holiday spirit on at the Artistry Holiday Sale of Fine Craft & Art in Guilford! This event features handcrafted holiday season and Christmas gift items from hundreds of American artists, makers, and designers. You can look forward to finding candles, leather, ceramics, jewelry, and more. The event runs from Thursday, November 2 through January 7, 2024.

Shoreline Arts Trail Open Studios Weekend, Branford

Mid-November

 

The Shoreline Arts Trail Open Studios Weekend is an annual event that takes place in Branford, Guilford, and Madison. It is organized by the Shoreline Arts Alliance and features more than 30 studio locations. The event allows both artists and art lovers to explore the work of some of the finest, award-winning artists on the shoreline. Their work must reflect mastery of methods and materials, originality of concept, and be handmade by the artist in their studio. 

 

Acoustic Acts in the Local, Hartford

Grab your loved ones and head over to Hartford’s The Local, a local music joint in Parkville Market. Here, you’ll be able to relax to bands while enjoying much of the food and drinks your can purchase on-site. 

 

Indigenous Craft Fair, Guilford

Nov 18, 10:00 am

Go support Indigenous artisans this Native American Heritage Month at Guilford’s Indigenous Craft Fair. Artisans from regional tribes will sell hand-crafted products, including wampum jewelry, beaded accessories, paintings, pottery, and more. You’ll also want to visit the Three Sisters Garden, listen to an Indigenous mariners’ talk, and stop by the Native American fusion food vendor while you’re there.

 

Spark Makerspace Gala 2023 – The Roaring Twenties, New London

Nov 18, 6 pm

The Spark Makerspace Gala 2023 – The Roaring Twenties is an event dedicated to fostering innovation and nurturing creativity in the community. The gala will feature live entertainment by Jazz band The Trio, light Mediterranean-inspired fare, and a silent auction of unique items made by makers. The dress code is formal, and the theme is the Roaring Twenties. All proceeds generated from ticket sales and the silent auction will be invested directly back into Spark Makerspace, helping it grow and further its mission.

 

Moulin Rouge! The Musical!

November 21 – December 3

Moulin Rouge! The Musical! is a Tony Award-winning musical that is coming to The Bushnell in Connecticut this November. The show is based on the 2001 movie of the same name and features a book by John Logan, music supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements by Justin Levine, and choreography by Sonya Tayeh. The musical tells the story of Christian, a young composer, who falls in love with Satine, a cabaret actress and courtesan at the Moulin Rouge. The show features many popular songs from the movie, along with new songs written specifically for the musical.
